window shopping in williamsburg

i visited a bunch of the stores in design*sponge's williamsburg list. but i still have a long to do list in terms of window shopping.

i did get this really cool "hold everything" at moon river chattel.

historic remembrance

i spotted melanie bilenker's jewelry awhile back. i remember sitting in borders (or barnes & noble) with my huge stack of magazines and letting out a little "oohhh" when i saw her work. beautiful pieces created with hair. i love the simplicity and the detail.

a little aside: i used to have a somewhat overwhelming (some would say obsessive) magazine collection. i no longer keep all the old magazines and i'm letting most of my subscriptions lapse. however, i have a large archive of old clippings that i use for projects and art. this is the first time that my print collection and online collection have overlapped.

garment rack

i've been looking for a vintage garment rack for months now. i was this close [pinching fingers together a bit] to making one of my own out of metal pipes and such...

...until i found franziska sinn's photography. lovely before & after pics of hotel rooms, untidy/tidy rooms, stacked/unstacked interiors and makeshift caves. one of the tidy/untidy rooms has a brilliant solution - a wire suspended between two walls. sure, there are issues with finding studs and making sure there is enough support but this is a huge breakthrough. ok, yes...i do have lots of clothes and therefore need a big garment rack.

more tiny tiny living

have i mentioned how much i love the idea of living in a tiny space? although this is not the airstream bambi, the deseo is another nice alternative.

barbour & boxfresh collaboration

new barbour coat that updates the traditional version. i have the hooded version that i stole from my dad.

toys. birds. kids.

i play. therefore i am.

more toys. i love toys.

tiny unazukin

these are adorable. and they look like daruma. maybe i should delegate all of my decisions to yes/no answers or wishes.

pop.soda.seltzer.etc.

whatever you call it. i want to try dry soda. with flavors like lavender and rhubarb, it must be delicious. i've tasted a few flavors of gus soda lately and i like this trend of not-so-sweet pop. (yes, pop.)

daruma craze

i'm a little obsessed with daruma after visiting the bar/restaurant bozu in williamsburg. the japanese token has unpainted eyes. you may make a wish while painting in one eye. when the wish comes true, paint in the other eye.

many of my friends and family got their own daruma for christmas. and now i stumble across the artist scott rench and his daruma art.

nostalgic rings

i had a ring like this before but i threw it in a special fountain in aix-en-provence. i think it's time for another one.

cute bedding from urban outfitters

although i tend to steer clear of low quality clothes at urban outfitters, i got a birdie bedspread last year and i'm tempted by this heart shaped pillow.

kimono shoes

i don't NEED new shoes. but i love new shoes. if you can't get me these, you can always get me these puma shoes.

exploring my new home

my list of stores to visit is extremely long. i should focus on the ones around me. i like that valley also has a nail boutique with nail artists. i'm tempted to try it except i still bite my nails.
