Pick a Moo Card...Any Moo Card

I had calling card when I was a kid. Although I don't remember actually handing any out. Moo cards have proved much more useful. And now moo.com let's people mush together all of their online stuff.

I Want to Be a Listener

Interesting article about listening vs. talking. I always appreciate a good listener but usually gravitate towards talkers. When I'm in a group situation, I usually sit back and listen. Now one on one, that is a different story...

Beautiful Environments from Nothing:Something

I love their aesthetic. It seems that since I'm really close to some of their projects in Williamsburg, I'll have to check them out.

10 things i like (with "k")

thanks to susan for assigning me the letter "k." we worked together at the henry ford and traveled quite a few times to disney destinations to research experience design (and have a little fun too). so here's my list (in no particular order):
  1. knitting - i'm not so good at it but i love trying.
  2. kitty cats - and dogs and horses and birds and goats and bunnies
  3. knowledge - i love to learn about anything
  4. kiosk - my favorite store in nyc
  5. kindred spirits - you know who you are
  6. kisses - from loved ones and little kids
  7. kids toys - i have a bit of a problem with my growing collection
  8. kindness - who doesn't?
  9. karma - the law of attraction that like attracts like
  10. killing time - up with procraftination!!!

i daydream a lot.

scientists study it.

garment rack

i've been looking for a vintage garment rack for months now. i was this close [pinching fingers together a bit] to making one of my own out of metal pipes and such...

...until i found franziska sinn's photography. lovely before & after pics of hotel rooms, untidy/tidy rooms, stacked/unstacked interiors and makeshift caves. one of the tidy/untidy rooms has a brilliant solution - a wire suspended between two walls. sure, there are issues with finding studs and making sure there is enough support but this is a huge breakthrough. ok, yes...i do have lots of clothes and therefore need a big garment rack.

more tiny tiny living

have i mentioned how much i love the idea of living in a tiny space? although this is not the airstream bambi, the deseo is another nice alternative.

Glossary of Social Media

Widgetization

I'm sometimes sad that Bloglines strips the blogs I read from their contexts. But I can get through them more efficiently. Erick Schonfeld ponders the pros and cons of personalized content delivery.

Here's my favorite quote: "If you try to put more than six or seven widgets on a page you soon discover why some people get paid to be Web designers and you don't."

Capturing the Intangible

Fast Company reports on women's ability to predict the future, spot trends and generally "get it." As someone who gets big ideas and thrives on pushing ideas where they haven't gone before, this is welcome praise.

I Hate Banner Ads.

But I'm coming to grips with the necessity. It's always better when there are simple ones like this.

My Barbie Is on Twitter

When I was little, I loved playing with Barbie (come to whatever conclusions you'd like to). But one thing that amused me was how much information my sister would tell me about what her Barbie was up to. Things like: "My Barbie is going to brush her teeth now" or "My Barbie is talking to this person now."

Being a small twitter addict reminds me of this. I still tease my sister when she tells me what she's up to. I'll ask, "Oh, is your Barbie going to start cooking now? Great!" But now I'm doing the same thing on Twitter.

So now it is her chance to tease me. My Barbie is off to check on my twitters.

More on Twitter from Chroma.

What's the Point?

I'm trying to join and try rather than wonder what the point is. Twitter is useless except for the fact that it is highly addictive and fun. Me.dium is too new. Great idea.

You Are Beautiful

You are indeed beautiful. Inspirational and simple. Just like every good message should be.

(Sort of reminds me of this. But not really...)

The Incurable Collector, Pt. II

A new book, In Flagrante Collecto, looks at the obsession of collecting. Sound familiar?

BookofJoe also recommends Utz by Bruce Chatwin.
(Update: I'm reading Utz and now I recommend it too.)

Bloglines Error

In one happy year using Bloglines, I've managed to keep track of over 100 feeds and all the "clippings" I save to post here. This morning brought the bliss to an end. I wanted to rename a clipping folder and in the process lost ALL of the clippings I had saved there.

Boo...
